HOW TO JOIN

Respect and honor yourself and others

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

The Milwaukee Junior Fire Institute is searching for young, career-oriented students between the ages of 14 and 20 from Wisconsin to join us. JFI’s goal is always to help our students find a career path they are passionate about and inspire them to aggressively pursue it with pride, respect, and honor. Several JFI alumni have gone on to become full-time firefighters, the majority of whom are frontline firefighters and paramedics in the City of Milwaukee!

WHAT'S EXPECTED

As a member of JFI, we expect our students to volunteer in the community, serve as role models, and lead by example. We remain a family on and off the training academy grounds, and that bond remains as our members begin their careers. We are committed to confiding in and supporting our fellow companions. When we leave JFI, we continue to embody these characteristics with pride, respect, and honor.

COMMUNITY EVENTS

JFI members proudly volunteer at and participate in community events. We believe in giving back to the community that has given us so much. We strive to do our best and reach out to those who need a helping hand. Whether our presence in public spaces is with JFI or otherwise, we remain honorable and help others become prominent role models for future generations.

MONTHLY MEETINGS

JFI meets once a month, on Saturday, from 9 AM – 12 PM. Our meetings cover various topics, including SCBA, car fires, search and rescue, and more. Our instructors, who volunteer their time to this initiative and serve as members of the Milwaukee Fire Department, enrich the futures of our youth and lead them to successful careers, whether in fire service or another industry. We believe that whether a person decides to make firefighting a career is not as important as the ability to learn the concepts that we apply regularly.
